Company History

50 Year CrestFor over 50 years Auto Marine Cables has been providing OEM and aftermarket parts to the automotive and marine industries. Originally started as a car accessory shop in 1964 by Howard Hammond, the business has continued to develop and has grown to be the market leader in its sector. There are now over 70 colleagues working together to achieve the high standards of service, quality and manufacturing excellence set by the family and expected by our customers who all contribute to the success the business experiences.

The business is now solely owned by Peter Hammond with 3rd generation family member Grace Hammond having recently joined the team. Since Peter's brother David retired at the end of 2014, Peter has continued to drive the business forwards experiencing healthy growth.

At our factory in Manchester, we extrude millions of metres of cable, wind thousands of finished reels and pack over 13,000 electrical components and accessories per week. We are continuously driving efficiencies into our processes to be able to react to what our customers need. We pride ourselves on our outstanding delivery performance which averages over 99% of all orders shipped complete and on time. Company formed selling parts for cars and commercial vehicles
1978
Started to distribute cable throughout the UK
1983
Relocated to our current site near Manchester
1991
Established a manufacturing facility to produce low voltage automotive cable in North Wales
1992
Moved the cable manufacturing into the main distribution site in Worsley near Manchester
1993
Gained accreditation to UK Standard BS5750 quality systems (ISO 9001:2000)
1994
Started producing high temperature thin wall automotive cables
2000
Launched a comprehensive range of low voltage thin wall twins and multi cores
2003
Became the Official UK Aftermarket Distributor for the range of fuses and circuit protection products from MTA in Italy
2004
Gained accreditation to Investors in People
2005
Established a lean manufacturing improvement programme
2007
Runner up in "Factory of the Year" at the NAA annual awards
2009
Launched a range of low voltage tinned cables
2010
New business software implemented

New cable extrusion machine installed
