In 1964, the world witnessed a cultural revolution, and the United Kingdom stood at the forefront. From swinging London to the birth of iconic music, 1964 was a year of innovation and inspiration.
The British invasion took the world by storm, as four lads from the North West, The Beatles, redefined music and captured the hearts of millions as they took on America.
1964 was also a year of triumphs and marked the dawn of a new era in technology, transportation, and entertainment – the Fourth Road Bridge opened in Scotland, BBC2 launched (with Play School the first programme to be shown!) and the first Match of The Day was broadcast which saw another North West team – Liverpool, beat Arsenal 3-2 at Anfield.
And, as Mods and Rockers went to war down on the South coast, back up North a certain Howard Hammond opened Kar Bar – a shop based in Bolton selling parts for cars and commercial vehicles…
Our journey to becoming the UK’s leading supplier of low voltage cables to the automotive and marine sectors 60 years ago certainly had an illustrious start, driven by Howard who had a clear vision to supply high-quality products, coupled with unrivalled levels of customer support and service. The business grew exponentially – and hasn’t slowed down since.
And, whilst our business looks a little different these days – with cable now manufactured in our state-of-the-art facilities and distributed across the globe, our purpose and vision continue to be built on the same foundations of trust, reliability and the highest levels of quality in both the products we sell and manufacture, and the service we provide.
Here's to the next 60, and beyond.
